Oregon Class B CDL Practice Questions

This Oregon Class B CDL practice page is based on the 100-question bank currently saved for this task. The bank focuses on heavy straight-vehicle licensing and general commercial-driving knowledge, plus air brakes, hazardous materials, tank vehicles, passenger operation, and school bus topics. Those specialty modules are conditional study scenarios, not a claim that every Class B applicant needs every endorsement or equipment-specific test. Class A combination-vehicle and doubles/triples operation modules are intentionally excluded from this Class B batch. Use the saved questions to review the concepts actually represented here, then use the current Oregon Commercial Driver Manual and DMV application instructions to confirm the knowledge tests, medical qualification, training, skills testing, restrictions, and endorsements that apply to your own vehicle and operation.

LICENSING GUIDE

What to know before you test

Use this overview together with the latest official guidance linked below.

01

Confirm the Oregon Class B vehicle group

Start by confirming that the vehicle you plan to operate fits Oregon Class B rather than Class A. The Oregon Commercial Driver Manual describes Class B as a heavy straight vehicle with a GVWR of at least 26,001 pounds, including such a vehicle towing another vehicle not over 10,000 pounds GVWR. Oregon also uses rated or actual gross-weight thresholds when determining whether a CDL is required. Class B includes straight trucks and large buses, and a qualified Class B driver may also operate appropriate Class C commercial vehicles, subject to endorsements and restrictions.

02

Complete training, CLP, and required knowledge tests

A first-time Oregon Class B applicant who is subject to Entry-Level Driver Training must complete applicable ELDT before the covered CDL skills test. Oregon requires a valid Commercial Learner Permit to be held at least 14 days before skills testing. The general knowledge test applies to all CDL applicants. Additional tests depend on the vehicle and operation: the air-brakes test applies when the vehicle has air brakes, while passenger, school bus, tank, and hazardous-materials testing applies only when those privileges are sought. Combination-vehicle and doubles/triples modules are not normal Class B requirements.

03

Use the saved Class B practice bank by module

The saved bank contains 100 questions across six modules: 38 general knowledge, 13 air brakes, 13 hazardous materials, 12 tank vehicles, 12 passenger, and 12 school bus. The topic coverage reflects the questions actually stored in the bank, including licensing responsibilities, inspections, cargo management, stopping space, hazardous conditions, emergency procedures, air-brake systems, hazardous materials, tank dynamics, and passenger safety. Treat endorsement-related material as targeted practice for the relevant operation rather than as a universal checklist for every Class B applicant.

04

Prepare for the Oregon Class B skills test

Before skills testing, make sure the Oregon CLP has been held long enough, required ELDT is complete, and all knowledge tests needed for the intended Class B vehicle have been passed. Oregon’s CDL skills testing covers vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and on-road driving. Use a representative Class B vehicle because the test vehicle and braking system can affect the class and restrictions printed on the CDL. Applicants who test without air brakes or with air-over-hydraulic brakes may receive Oregon L or Z air-brake restrictions, so test equipment should match the privileges needed.

passing

Oregon CDL knowledge-test and skills-test applicants

Oregon states that commercial knowledge-test results are valid for six months after a passing result. For CDL skills testing, the required vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and on-road components must be successfully completed under Oregon’s current testing process.

applicability

Oregon applicants preparing for Class B commercial driving and related endorsements

Oregon Class B covers heavy straight vehicles and qualifying lighter towed units; passenger, school bus, tank, hazardous-materials, and air-brake requirements depend on the vehicle, cargo, equipment, or operation sought. Class A combination-vehicle and doubles/triples operation are outside this Class B mixed practice scope.
