The New Mexico CDL manual defines Class B as a single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, or such a vehicle towing another vehicle with a GVWR not over 10,000 pounds. That class includes heavy straight trucks and large buses. The manual also makes clear that separate knowledge tests and endorsements depend on the equipment and operation. Prepare the New Mexico CLP documents and medical information

For a first-time New Mexico Commercial Learner's Permit, MVD requires a valid New Mexico driver license and lists proof of Social Security number, proof of identity and U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence, a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate or applicable FMCSA waiver or exemption documentation, and two proofs of physical New Mexico residency.
