Delaware Class B CDL Mixed Practice Questions and Licensing Guide

Prepare for Delaware Class B commercial-driver licensing with 100 original mixed practice questions. The saved bank covers general knowledge, air brakes, hazardous materials, tank vehicles, passenger vehicles, and school buses. Topics include inspection, braking, cargo, commercial operating rules, hazards, passenger safety, tank dynamics, signs, speed control, collisions, and licensing responsibilities. These are study questions, not official Delaware DMV exam items, and the 100-question format is not an official test blueprint. Delaware DMV says every CDL applicant takes at least the General Knowledge test, with additional tests depending on license class, vehicle systems, and endorsements. Use this bank with the current Delaware CDL manual, DMV licensing pages, and applicable FMCSA requirements.

LICENSING GUIDE

What to know before you test

Use this overview together with the latest official guidance linked below.

01

Confirm that Class B is the correct CDL class

Delaware DMV defines Class B for a vehicle with a registered, actual, or rated gross vehicle weight over 26,000 pounds when it is not towing another vehicle over 10,000 pounds GVWR. Applicants should match the CDL class to the vehicle they intend to operate instead of assuming every heavy commercial vehicle requires Class A. Delaware lists a minimum age of 18 with one year of driving experience for intrastate Class A, B, or C operation, while age 21 with one year of driving experience applies for broader operation. The required-age page separately lists age thresholds for endorsements such as hazardous materials, tank, passenger, and school bus.

02

Separate required Class B testing from conditional modules

Delaware states that every CDL knowledge-test applicant completes at least the General Knowledge test, with additional testing based on license class and endorsements. This mixed practice bank includes six modules, so not every module represents a requirement for every Class B applicant. Passenger and school-bus endorsements require knowledge and skills testing, while tank and hazardous-material endorsements use knowledge testing and have additional eligibility rules. Air brakes are not an endorsement; FMCSA instead describes restrictions that apply when an applicant does not qualify to operate a CMV with a full air-brake system. The bank therefore treats endorsement and air-brake material as conditional study rather than a universal Class B checklist.

03

Complete ELDT and prepare for the skills test when required

Federal Entry-Level Driver Training rules apply to drivers obtaining a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time and to specified first-time endorsements. Delaware explains that an entry-level applicant subject to ELDT must complete the required theory and behind-the-wheel training from a registered provider before taking the applicable CDL skills test; a first-time hazardous-material applicant must complete the applicable ELDT before the H endorsement knowledge test. Delaware uses the modernized CDL skills test, with pre-trip vehicle inspection, basic control skills, and a road test. DMV says applicants must pass the full skills test to receive the CDL.

04

Handle CLP supervision, self-certification, and endorsement limits

Delaware says a commercial learner permit holder must be accompanied by a properly licensed CDL driver while operating the commercial motor vehicle used for training. The state also requires CLP and CDL applicants and holders to self-certify their commercial driving status, with medical-document requirements depending on the applicable certification category. For mixed study, keep endorsement rules separate from the base Class B license: hazardous-material authority requires separate eligibility and security steps, passenger and school-bus operation requires the corresponding endorsements, and tank authority applies only to qualifying tank operations. Applicants should verify the endorsements and restrictions that match the actual vehicle, passengers, cargo, and brake system they plan to operate.
