Arizona Class B CDL Practice Questions

Use these 100 Arizona Class B CDL practice questions to review the topics represented in the current bank, including general knowledge, air brakes, hazardous materials, tank vehicles, passenger vehicles, and school buses. Each practice item uses four answer choices and an explanation, but this website format does not describe the number or format of questions on an official Arizona examination. The mixed bank is intentionally broader than the requirements for any one applicant: endorsement- and equipment-specific material applies only when your vehicle, cargo, or intended operation requires it. A Class B CDL generally covers a qualifying heavy single vehicle and certain combinations with a lighter towed unit. Arizona applicants should use current ADOT instructions and the CDL manual for licensing steps, and first-time Class B applicants should verify applicable federal Entry-Level Driver Training requirements before the skills test.

LICENSING GUIDE

What to know before you test

Use this overview together with the latest official guidance linked below.

01

Confirm that Class B matches the vehicle you plan to drive

Class B is intended for a qualifying heavy single vehicle, or such a vehicle towing a unit that does not exceed the Class B towing threshold. That is different from Class A, which covers qualifying heavier combinations. This mixed practice bank therefore emphasizes general Class B knowledge and conditionally includes air brakes, hazardous materials, tank vehicles, passenger service, and school-bus material. The presence of a module here does not mean every Class B applicant must take that endorsement or equipment test. Match your planned vehicle, cargo, and work to the current Arizona and federal classifications before selecting tests and training.

02

Prepare your identity, residency, driving-history, and medical records

Arizona requires CDL applicants to meet its documentation and medical-qualification rules before completing the commercial licensing process. Current MVD instructions direct first-time applicants to satisfy the documentation requirements before paying fees or taking tests, and they address driving-history proof for applicants whose qualifying history is not already available in Arizona records. Commercial drivers must also maintain the medical qualification that applies to their certification category. Review the current Arizona documentation guidance before visiting MVD because acceptable evidence and special-case procedures can change.

03

Complete the CLP, applicable knowledge tests, ELDT, and skills test

A first-time Arizona Class B applicant begins with a commercial learner permit and must pass the knowledge tests that apply to the license, vehicle, and endorsements being sought. Arizona currently requires at least 80 percent on each CDL knowledge test and requires a failed applicant to wait until the next business day before retesting. Federal ELDT rules apply to first-time Class B applicants unless an exception applies, and the required training must be completed with a registered provider before the skills test. Arizona requires the CLP to be held for at least 14 days before the skills test, which includes pre-trip, basic-control, and road components in an appropriate vehicle.

04

Use the six-module practice bank as targeted review

The saved bank contains 100 original practice questions across six modules: 38 general knowledge, 13 air brakes, 13 hazardous materials, 12 tank vehicles, 12 passenger, and 12 school bus. It does not include routine combination-vehicle or doubles-and-triples modules because those are not part of the core Class B scope represented here. Use the conditional modules only when they match your vehicle, equipment, cargo, or intended endorsements. These questions are study material rather than official Arizona exam questions and do not guarantee a passing result. Verify current ADOT and FMCSA instructions before relying on a procedural detail.

applicability

Arizona Class B CDL applicants using this mixed practice bank

Class B generally covers a single vehicle with a GVWR or GVW of at least 26,001 pounds, or such a vehicle towing a vehicle that does not exceed 10,000 pounds GVWR or GVW. Air-brake restrictions and H, N, P, and S endorsements have separate applicability conditions, so the mixed practice bank includes conditional modules that are not required for every Class B applicant.
